Day #18: Whatever Tickles My Fancy

Well, the past few days I have been doing some reading online and noticed that some women are WAY too desperate.

Why is it that we expect a man to propose after such a short period of time? If I were a guy I would be turned off by a girl wanting me to propose to her so soon after dating. You need to be patient and wait for him to ask you. Otherwise, he is most likely going to regret it all, end up marrying and then a few years later it will end in divorce. People don't take any time to get to know each other before deciding they want to get married. Also, if you are in a military relationship and have spent a good bit of your relationship apart, what makes you think you are ready for marriage when he gets back from said deployment?

Kurt and I may have spent a good bit of our relationship, early on, separated by the Navy. We went through countless underways early on. We got to know each other through emails. This anniversary was the first one that we actually got to spend together, first time in 3 years. In the 2 years leading up to the proposal we never talked about getting married or engaged. Early on we knew that we wanted to get married and be together but we didn't talk about it. I knew from past experience that talking about it and rushing a guy into marriage can only turn into a break-up and a broken heart.

So, why not just let him propose when he wants to propose and is ready to want to marry you. No need in rushing him into it. You will most likely both wind up hurt and regretting it later on down the road. Take some time and get to know each other before jumping into something as serious as marriage. Value the vows of marriage, know the person you are marrying and remember that the vows are FOREVER, not just when they are convenient for you.
